CRITICAL THERMAL INCREMENTS FOR OXYGEN CONSUMPTION OF AN INSECT, DROSOPHILA MELANOGASTER
Abstract
The critical thermal increments are calculated for oxygen consumption in the pupae of the "wild type" fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, and are found to be of two types: micro = 11,500 and 16,800; above 15 degrees C. the first value is obtained, the second, below this temperature.
