Schematic representation of the postulated steps of the pathogenesis of MCL, shown in conjunction with the main immuno-morphological findings. The red immunostain, corresponds to cyclin D1 determined by the alkaline phosphatase anti-alkaline phosphatase complexes technique. The naïve B-lymphocyte is stained for CD20 by immunoperoxidase. The examples of “classic” MCL and “blastoid” MCL are stained with Giemsa, while the “pleomorphic” one is stained with hematoxylin and eosin.
