Abstract

The assessment and treatment of urinary incontinence in aged women have age-related specificities that we present from a literature review. Urinary incontinence is most often mixed: stress incontinence and urge incontinence. The coexistence of chronic retention is common and should be taken into account in treatment. Urinary incontinence de novo must find a trigger that will be corrected if possible. The treatment of urinary incontinence in aged women and young women are the same as long as no frailty is present. The definition of frailty is not consensual, but some criteria are regularly cited: age> 80 years, restricted mobility, functional decline, cognitive impairment. In frail aged women, geriatric assessment is necessary to adapt treatment, whether medical or surgical.
