[Pseudoxanthoma elasticum--a visual diagnosis]

Abstract

Based on a personal observation and an analysis of the recent literature, the characteristic findings of Pseudoxanthoma elasticum are illustrated and the syndrome its diagnosis, differential diagnosis, pathogenesis and prognosis are summarized. Although the major dermatological and ophthalmological signs are highly characteristic, dermatologists or ophthalmologists are quite often late in diagnosing the condition.
