Tubulin in the nervous system
Abstract
In the mammalian brain, tubulin is the major protein and microtubules are major organelles. Neurite outgrowth, axoplasmic transport and synaptic function are thought to be dependent upon microtubule integrity. Studies of microtubule structure and function relationship, and the control mechanism of tubulin expression shed light on more complicated neuronal functions, as described in the following review.
