Acetabular allograft reconstruction in total hip arthroplasty. Part II: Surgical approach and aftercare
Abstract
Proper application of allograft reconstruction is based on rigid initial fixation through adequate surgical exposure using optimum available techniques. Careful preoperative evaluation of bone defects includes Judet views, vascular studies, and computed tomography for 3D modeling. The extensile triradiate approach is discussed, along with current fixation methods and prosthetic choices. The concluding segment of this review will outline the correct surgical technique and consider the allograft in the context of total acetabular reconstruction.
