Migraine
Abstract
Extract: Migraine is a very common primary episodic headache disorder characterized by combinations of neurologic, gastrointestinal, and autonomic changes. Diagnosis is based on the headache's characteristics and associated symptoms. The International Headache Society (IHS) diagnostic criteria for headache disorders provide definitions for seven subtypes of migraine. Approximately 28 million Americans have severe, disabling migraine headaches, and 17.6% of American women and 6% of American men had one migraine attack in the previous year. The WHO ranks migraine among the world's most disabling medical illnesses.
