Cytomegalovirus and herpes simplex virus: wolves in sheep's clothing
Abstract
The herpesviruses cytomegalovirus and herpes simplex are common human infections. They are usually subclinical, but can cause significant or even fatal disease. The foetus, the newborn and the immunocompromised are particularly vulnerable to the serious consequences of these opportunistic infections.
