Abstract

This article addresses the need to develop behavioral science training programs in Canadian family practice residencies. Guidelines for establishing such programs are described, emphasizing teaching goals, structures, and methodologies. Faculty development and the evaluation of program effectiveness are also discussed. A current, ongoing program is presented to illustrate one approach to integrating the behavioral sciences in a family medicine centre.
