[Prevention of burnout and incidences by coping strategies]
Abstract
The object of our research is centred around burnout in nurses confronted by the successive and repeated deaths of patients in their care. We propose to study the theoretical links between burnout, coping and alexithymie. Our initial hypothesis is that palliative care formation tends to diminue the characteristics of burn-out, the negative and defensive strategies of coping. On the other hand, the process of palliative and adaptative care education tends to develope more efficient, positive and adaptative strategies of coping. The comparative results of two test groups of nurses, formed and not formed in palliative care are presented.
