Receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve for the change in functional capillary density (δFCD) within the first 2 days of septic shock in children. The best cut-off is 0.7. Area under the curve (AUC) for δFCD = 0.956 (95% CI 0.853-1.058). The ROC curve for pediatric risk of mortality (PRISM) shows a low sensitivity and specificity. It has an AUC of 0.59 (95%CI 0.209-0.969) and is significantly less sensitive and specific than the δFCD measured by the ROC curve. From [59] with permission.
