[Decreased level of immunoreactive creatine phosphokinase BB isoenzymes in the brain of patients with schizophrenia and senile dementia of the Alzheimer type]
Abstract
The decrease of immunoreactive creatinine phosphokinase BB (CPK BB) was demonstrated by immunoblotting and immunoelectrophoresis with antiserum to CPK BB. There were no correlations between the activity and content of that enzyme in normal and mental brains. Therefore the decrease of CPK activity in mental brains cannot be explained by the content reduction alone. It may be due to ++post-translation modifications of CPK molecules and other reasons.
