Nd:YAG contact laser surgery. The scalpel of the future?

H C Midgley 3rd. Otolaryngol Clin North Am. 1990 Feb.

Abstract

Lasers have been used in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery since the early 1970s, mainly for endoscopic applications. In particular, the author discusses the use of the Nd:YAG contact laser surgery. The techniques and training required in the use of these newer laser applications, including the flexible fiber system for use in the tracheobronchial tree, are reviewed.
