Otitis media

E D Kemp. Prim Care. 1990 Jun.

Abstract

Otitis media, one of the most common problems encountered in the care of children, remains fraught with controversy on the most appropriate methods of management. A proliferation of effective antimicrobial regimens has kept pace with emergence of resistant strains of pathogens, and sufficient information now exists to guide the clinician in making logical therapeutic decisions. Recommendations are given on appropriate use of terminology, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic interventions for the various phases of otitis media.
