[The neuropsychology of nigrostriatal dopaminergic transmission in Parkinson's disease]
Abstract
Through cortico-subcortico-cortical loop systems, the dopaminergic modulation influences not only motor, but also other executive functions. Neuropsychological findings in Parkinson's disease are reviewed and physiologically interpreted. The theory of a "supervisory attentional system" according to Norman and Shallice (1986) seems to be an adequate model of the interaction of cortex and basal ganglia in executive function and control.
