Abstract

Objective: To study the chemical constituents of roots of Rumex patientia.

Methods: The compounds were separated and purified by silica column chromatopraphy, Sephadex LH-20 and identified by several spectroscopic methods.

Results: Seven constituents were identified as nepodin (1), nepodin-8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2), chrysophanol-8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (3), emodin-6-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (4), emodin-8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (5), 1, 3, 5-trihydroxy-7-methylanthraquinone (6), physcion-8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (7), respectively.

Conclusion: Compound 1 is isolated from this plant for the first time and compound 6 is isolated from Rumex L. for the first time.
