Vaginitis. Systematically solving a bothersome problem
Abstract
Vaginitis is a common cause of patient visits to primary care physicians. Causes include allergic and irritative factors and infectious agents. Diagnosis is readily made with use of simple office procedures such as wet smears, stains, and cultures. Treatment with appropriate antibiotics or vaginal preparations is usually effective.
