Abstract
Purpose of review: To discuss issues that affect development of new glaucoma treatments known as neuroprotection.
Recent findings: There are barriers to neuroprotection trials for glaucoma.
Summary: With design features discussed in the review, neuroprotection trials can be effectively carried out.
