. Each curve represents the population distribution of risks under the assumption that the distribution is lognormal, where the value of 1 on the horizontal axis represents the population mean risk. Thus, as the SIR increases, the distribution becomes more and more spread out, with the large preponderance of the population experiencing risks much lower that the average population risk, and a small proportion having increasingly larger risks.
