Plant proteomics: current status and future prospects
Abstract
As proteins represent the functional center piece of all biology, proteomics represents a field of research central to the greater plant research community. From discussions with those attending the European Proteomics Association (EuPA) 2012 meeting in Glasgow, Scotland, plant proteomics can be seen as expanding and evolving to investigate novel aspects of diverse organisms and to apply the latest technologies to plant research. Moving forward, targeted plant proteomics holds much promise in unraveling many of the complexities of plants. Highlighted are discussions on quantitative and non-quantitative plant proteomics, covalent modifications and the unique challenges of proteomics in plants.
