Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this article is to describe the advantages and diagnostic and prognostic implications of imaging in the management of vulvar carcinoma.

Conclusion: As the treatment of vulvar carcinoma evolves to tailored surgery and chemoradiation therapy to reduce morbidity, the importance of pretreatment assessment of vulvar carcinoma increases. Advances in imaging, such as pelvic MRI and PET, add to the benefits of clinical evaluation in pretreatment planning, assessment of response to chemoradiation therapy, and posttreatment surveillance.
