Recertification. One orthopedic surgeon's view
Abstract
A clear definition of recertification as a measure of continuing education rather than continuing competency, coupled with established procedures for testing and retesting and alternating with educational opportunities, can do much to alleviate the anxiety associated with this process. Orthopedic surgeons should not be averse to demonstrating that they have kept up-to-date, but should be assured that decertification will not be a result of the recertification process.
