The ascending aorta and the aortic arch is resected, except the area between the left subclavian artery and the descending aorta. The brachiocephalic artery is clamped, the left carotid artery is cannulated for antegrade cerebral perfusion and the left subclavian artery is occluded by a Fogarthy catheter. The hybrid prostheses is sutured to the proximal descending aorta with a 4-0 polyprelene running suture

A separate Dacron prostheses is trimmed in an oblique fashion to replace the aortic arch and the ascending aorta. At the end of the operation all parts of the anastomosis can be accessed for additional stitches
