Ten-eleven translocation-2 (TET2) is an epigenetic regulator of vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) phenotype plasticity through a mechanism involving the oxidation of 5-methylcytosine (5-mC) and generation of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5-hmC). Myocd indicates Myocardin; and SRF, serum response factor.
