The objective of this review is to evaluate the clinical and cost-effectiveness of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) and high-sensitivity cardiac troponin I (hs-cTnI) for the early diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in the emergency department (ED).

    Research questions
  1. What is the diagnostic test performance of hs-cTnT and hs-cTnI assays compared with each other as well as with cTnT and sensitive cTnI assays in patients with suspected ACS symptoms in ED?

  2. What is the clinical effectiveness of hs-cTnT and hs-cTnI assays compared with each other as well as with cTnT and sensitive cTnI assays in patients with suspected ACS symptoms in ED?

  3. What is the cost-effectiveness of hs-cTnT and hs-cTnI assays compared with each other as well as with cTnI assays in patients with suspected ACS symptoms in the ED?
