Abstract

The capacity of oocytes to support embryo development and a healthy pregnancy is dependent on complex and poorly understood interactions with the somatic cells that enclose it during its development. Reporting in Nature Cell Biology, Chen et al. (2013) demonstrate that EGF-like peptide somatic cell signals regulate oocyte mRNA translation.
