[Encouraging the participation of parents]

Abstract

Despite legislation allowing them to be present with their child, parents are still too often sidelined during care procedures. However, having a family member close by helps the child to feel reassured, reducing their pain as well as their anxiety. Encouraging the presence of the parents during nursing procedures should be part of all team projects.
