Combined and complex vascular malformations
Abstract
The correct diagnosis of vascular malformations is obtainable by clinical assessment and patient history in the majority of cases. Nonetheless, confusion in nomenclature, existence of multiple classifications and rarity of these lesions leads to misdiagnosis and related wrong treatment. This is especially the case in combined or complex vascular malformations or vascular malformations that are part of syndromes as these have overlapping clinical and imaging features. New entities in the field of vascular anomalies have been described recently like fibro-adipose vascular anomaly or central conducting lymphatic anomalies.
Die korrekte Diagnose vaskulärer Anomalien ist in der Mehrzahl der Fälle durch die klinische Untersuchung und die Anamnese erhebbar. Durch das Vorhandensein multipler Klassifikationen und aufgrund der Seltenheit dieser Erkrankungen kommt es aber trotzdem zu Fehldiagnosen und daraus resultierenden Fehlbehandlungen. Dies ist vor allem bei kombinierten und komplexen vaskulären Malformationen, oder wenn vaskuläre Malformationen Teil eines Syndroms sind, der Fall, da oft klinische und bildgebende Gemeinsamkeiten vorliegen. Kürzlich wurden neue Entitäten wie die fibro-adipöse vaskuläre Anomalie oder Anomalien der zentralen sammelnden Lymphgefässe beschrieben. Die korrekte Diagnose ist der Schlüssel zu einer erfolgreichen Behandlung vaskulärer Malformationen.
