Dynamic regulation of EGFR variants in recurrent glioblastoma. EGFR and EGFRvIII appear as extrachromosomal DNA elements in EGFR amplified glioblastoma. Interestingly mutant forms of the receptor are not fully retained in recurrent tumors, which may reflect the dynamic turnover of mutant amplicons and selective adaptation processes.
