FDG PET/CT for Management and Assessing Outcomes of Squamous Cell Cancer of the Oral Cavity
Abstract
Objective: FDG PET/CT has excellent diagnostic accuracy for detecting locoregional nodal and distant metastases, can be used to assess therapeutic response, and provides valuable information about prognosis in patients with oral cavity cancer. The aim of this article is to summarize the value of FDG PET/CT in the treatment of patients with squamous cell cancer of the oral cavity.
Conclusion: FDG PET/CT is a valuable imaging study in the management of oral squamous cell cancer and in predicting patient outcome.
Keywords: PET/CT; oral cavity cancer; patient outcome; staging; therapy response.
