a ket+ = protonated ketamine concentration in organelles; ketCSF=ketamine concentration in CSF. The colors represent pH in cytoplasm and within organelles. The ratios are based on calculations by Trapp (22). That weakly basic psychiatric drugs accumulate in acidic vesicles, by a factor of 50–100, within neurons has been elegantly proven (23).
