[The use of serologic methods in studying leishmaniasis]
Abstract
The present state of leishmaniasis serological studies' problem is elucidated by analysing the data obtained for the last decade. The Data presented in the review demonstrate the possibility of studying quite different leishmaniasis problems by serological methods. The modified Adler test seems most suitable as serological method for Leishmania identification, while monoclonal antibody method looks most promising. Enzyme immunoassay is the most effective test used for serodiagnosis and leishmaniasis seroepidemiological studies, though it doesn't exclude other methods and, first of all, indirect immunofluorescence.
