Postpartum endometritis
Abstract
Despite the widespread use of prophylactic antibiotics, postpartum endometritis remains a common complication following cesarean section. Metritis is generally polymicrobial and responds to a wide variety of antibiotic regimens. During the past decade, single agents have been shown to be safe and efficacious. The pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment options for endometritis are reviewed.
