The pie charts represent the percentage of total monogenic lung disorder-related genes that are expressed in SAE (86 genes expressed in SAE from cohort of n = 87 healthy nonsmokers and n = 143 healthy smokers), with shading representing overall response to smoking: no shading, up-regulated by smoking; dark gray shading, down-regulated by smoking; light gray shading, unchanged by smoking.
