Making Heads or Tails of Tapeworms
Abstract
A study by Koziol et al. using positional markers in larval stages solves the century-old question of whether the scolex of adult tapeworms, used for attaching to the host tissue with suckers, is located at the anterior or posterior end of the animal: the scolex marks the anterior pole.
