Pulmonary venous obstruction from left atrial thrombus in hypoplastic left heart syndrome

A Romano et al. Pediatr Cardiol. 1989 Spring.

Abstract

The formation of intracardic thrombi in infants with cogenital heart disease is quite uncommon. We describe an infant with hypoplastic left heart syndrome in whom a left atrial thrombus developed over the course of 5 days. It is speculated that this thrombus contributed to the death of this patient before palliative surgical intervention.
