Bariatric surgery restores hepatic histologic features of NAFLD. The role of one-carbon metabolism in NAFLD and beyond. The pathways for the metabolism of essential micronutrients affecting the development of NAFLD and HCC intersect at the formation of methionine from homocysteine. Of note, the flux of dietary amino acids, B vitamins and THF may vary during selective deficiencies.
