Nurse-pharmacist collaboration in clinical nursing education
Abstract
Collaboration between nurses and pharmacists is an approach to enhancing nursing students' education in pharmacology and improving nurses' and pharmacists' understanding of complementary roles and expertise. This paper describes a collaborative model used by the authors to teach pharmacologic concepts to nursing students in the clinical area. This approach included individual pharmacist-nursing student conferences and a clinical conference led jointly by a nurse educator and a pharmacist. The reactions of participants in these collaborative educational efforts have been overwhelmingly favorable.
