We surmise that physical exercise may modify the integrity and cellular functions of microtubules through the deacetylation of α-tubulin by SIRT2.

With age, there are defects in neuromuscular junctions and the number of satellite cells. A narrowing of muscle fibers and deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) contribute also to poor neuromuscular activity, which is controlled by neuronal, mechanical, metabolic, and hormonal inputs.
