The article presents epidemiological data on the prevalence of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in the world and modern techniques for the rapid accurate diagnosis. The author discusses a national approach to this subject.

В статье приводятся эпидемиологические данные о распространенности болезни Крейтцфельдта-Якоба в мире. Отмечено отсутствие соответствующих показателей по России из-за трудностей диагностики заболевания с использованием современных биологических методов в практической деятельности врача. Описаны современные методы быстрой диагностики заболевания и обсуждается общий подход к проблеме прионных болезней.
