Signal transduction mechanism of EGFR transactivation by AngII in vascular smooth muscle cells leading to vascular remodeling. PTK; protein tyrosine kinase, PI3K; Phosphoinositide 3-kinase, p70S6K; p70 S6 kinase. Please note that in addition to this cascade both classical and novel pathways have been shown to contribute to AngII-mediated vascular remodeling (reviewed in detail recently in the reference ).

Potential roles of ADAM17 activation in cardiovascular pathophysiology. In addition to EGFR transactivation, ADAM17 may contribute to endothelial dysfunction and insulin resistance by producing TNFα and inhibiting ACE2.
