Peripheral neuropathy with hypophosphatemia in a patient receiving intravenous hyperalimentation
Abstract
We have described a patient receiving intravenous hyperalimentation in whom hypophosphatemia resulted in a neurologic syndrome characterized by ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, and areflexic paralysis of all extremities, requiring respiratory assistance. We have discussed pertinent literature related to neurologic dysfunction as a result of hypophosphatemia.
