Postoperative adjuvant therapy

Abstract

There is no proven significant benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer. Portal infusion of 5-FU in the immediate postoperative period has given some promising results but further trials of this treatment are necessary. Intraperitoneal administration should also be tested. All clinical studies of adjuvant chemotherapy must include control groups who do not receive adjuvant treatment.
