Surface EMG of left forearm shows alternating bursts of muscle contraction in the left flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS) and extensor digitorum communis (EDC) at a rate of 0.75 to 1.00 Hz. In this 4‐second epoch, four alternating bursts of MUP (motor unit potential) discharges of each muscle are seen. Sweep speed: 400 msec/division for both FDS and EDC. Gain: 200 microvolts/division for FDS, 500 microvolts/division for EDC.
