A non-cystic mesenchymal hamartoma of the liver--an unusual case of an unusual entity. Case report and review of the literature

Abstract

We report here a case of non-cystic mesenchymal liver hamartoma in a young adult woman. The patient was preoperatively examined with ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT) and angiography. US and CT revealed signs of a benign tumor in the left liver lobe. Angiographically the tumor had pathological blood vessels. Histologically it proved to be an unusual non-cystic form of benign mesenchymal hamartoma.
