The abbreviations used are as follows: ODC, ornithine decarboxylase; SAMDC, S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase; SSAT, spermidine-spermine-N-acetyl transferase; PAO, polyamine oxidase; AZ, antizyme; SMO, spermine oxidase. AZ inactivates ODC, increases polyamine efflux and decreases polyamine uptake.
