Ordering Cells in Pseudotime Recapitulates Developmental Trajectories. Root hair cells profiled by scRNA-seq are ordered from youngest (stage 1; light colors) to oldest (13; dark colors). The youngest cells “anchor” the trajectory and indicate the beginning of developmental time. Unlike animals, Arabidopsis cells do not migrate and developmental stage corresponds with spatial location in the root. (Adapted from Jean-Baptiste, et al. [2019], Figure 4).
