Cellular differentiation markers in lymphoproliferative diseases
Abstract
Immunologic progress has resulted in precise definition of different lymphocyte populations that participate in normal immune responses. It has also led to an understanding of the nature of lymphomas and leukemias as malignant expansions of the various cell types. By using characteristic cell markers, it is now possible to classify many malignancies on the basis of the cell types involved.
