• ¹ John E. Lopes, Jr., is project director for the Physician Assistant Education Association's Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Waiver Training Initiative. He is an associate professor in the PA program at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich., and practices at Michigan Therapeutic Consultants, an opioid treatment program in Mount Pleasant. The author discloses that funding for the PAEA MAT waiver training initiative was made possible by grant No. 1H79TI080816-01 from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
