Haemodialysis for metabolic decompensation in propionic acidaemia

Abstract

During an acute respiratory infection, a 4-year-old girl with propionic acidaemia deteriorated rapidly, becoming comatose with a marked acidosis. She did not respond to standard treatment but during haemodialysis her clinical state quickly improved.
